Reiki I Chapter 7: Detoxification and Reiki

It is true that there are a lot of people who are leading fulfilling and healthier lives after creating the same with the help of Reiki. The failure stories are many times more and by far the single largest contributor to this is Failure to understand the process of Detoxification that invariably sets in after a few healing sessions.

There are plenty of unpleasant symptoms of the Detoxification Process and a proper understanding of these symptoms is of utmost importance in order to become a successful practitioner.

We may or may not be aware of the fact that our bodies become storehouses of toxins – mainly due to living in the modern, competitive and polluted cities that are our homes, either through necessity or choice.

These toxins directly or indirectly contribute to our state of (ill) health. For good health to be regained, it is imperative that the stored toxins be removed from our bodies.

Reiki treatments invariably work towards removing these toxins from the body, but detoxification is not always a pleasant process. Reiki practitioners are known to experience a few days after they start practicing Reiki, among other things:

•    Headaches, heavy headed feelings,
•    Congested Sinuses,
•    Feverish Feelings,
•    Symptoms of Colds,
•    Constipation and conversely loose motions,
•    Increased frequency of passing urine,
•    General irritability and moodiness.

These symptoms generally surface a few days after the start of Reiki treatments and are Positive Signs of good health returning. That is right, the detoxification symptoms are Great Positive Signs of Good Health Returning.

Unfortunately, these symptoms are generally misinterpreted as ‘diseases’ that have suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Someone who is not fully informed about these symptoms in advance will naturally start thinking “Reiki is Not Working For Me” or worse still, “Reiki treatment brought about these new diseases”.

Further self-healings with this deeply ingrained belief system are just not possible.

Please be informed that these unpleasant symptoms generally taper off after a few days of Reiki practice to reappear once again whenever the body needs them.

It’s also usually observed that individuals with long standing health problems do go through relatively intense and longer detoxification periods. Adjusting the number of Reiki Healing sessions either by increasing or decreasing them helps as the rate of healing is accordingly accelerated or decreased.

This may sound contradictory but needs to be properly understood and will be taken up at length during the Reiki workshops and subsequently as and when needed.

Detoxification is an essential part of the healing process but has attracted a lot of unwanted and adverse publicity. Any therapy that brings about detoxification is Great for the system.

The fact remains that detoxification happens even when anyone incorporates Positive Lifestyle Changes like stopping taking intoxicants or eating better quality food. The logical question to be asked then is, “Should the detoxification symptoms be allowed to get in the way of any one opting for a better, healthier lifestyle?”

As a matter of fact, we do keep on having our off days every now and then in life anyway. We do keep on getting headaches, body-aches, and we do have days when we are unwell, don’t we?

I personally think that a few days of discomfort (every month or so) is not a very big price to pay for eventually attaining great vibrant health. We humans willingly agree to go through the pain of surgery and subsequent recovery whenever the situation reaches that stage. There are absolutely No Guarantees given by the surgeon of the procedures being successful! Still we do opt for them.

Think of detoxification as minor surgeries being performed, albeit by self, every few days whenever the body needs them. Thankfully, with Reiki treatment, the pain and discomfort is not as intense (as during and after surgeries) and then this too can be greatly reduced by changing the number of treatment.

As I said, it is entirely up to you as only you can decide whether you want to attain great vibrant health or not.

Think about it.
